Frequently Asked Questions
These are our top FAQ's about Chiropractic & Remedial Massage Therapy
What are your clinic hours?
Monday to Friday
Massage: 9am - 6pm
Chiropractic: 8am - 6pm
We are closed on public holidays and for 2 weeks around the Christmas to the New Year period.
How do I get to your clinic?
Please find the address, map and travel suggestions on our CONTACT US page.
What should I bring to my first appointment?
Please bring your private health insurance fund card if you have one.
If you haven't already paid online then please bring cash or card to pay, we don't accept cheques.
Please fill in our online history form before you come to the clinic if possible. Click in the link at the bottom of this page to do that. If you aren't able to fill it in before attending the clinic, please arrive 10 minutes early to fill it in on our iPad.
If you are seeing the chiropractor, please bring any previous reports, results, images, x-rays and scans relating to your condition or for your nerves / joints / bones.
It can help the chiropractor for examination and adjustments if you wear or bring clothes to change into: shorts for males; or gym type lycra bra top and shorts for females; or leggings and singlet for females. Ask your chiropractor if it helps to bring the clothing to your following appointments. The chiropractor can still work on you if you don't have or don't bring these clothes.
What is the duration of the Initial Chiropractic Consult?
The Initial chiropractic consultation is usually a minimum of 30 minutes for history taking, examination and diagnosis. Chiropractic treatment is usually included in the initial consultation. It may reach to 45 or 60 minutes if treatment is appropriate on the day. Further investigations such as x-rays may be necessary before treatment can be given and if your condition is not suitable for chiropractic care we will refer you to an appropriate place such as the emergency department.
What is the duration of remedial massage therapy?
You can choose to have a half and hour, one hour or one and a half hour remedial massage. Half an hour is usually enough time to work on one area such as head and neck or both legs. One hour gives enough time to thoroughly work all the major areas and target the most needed parts. One and a half hours gives the chance to massage all areas that the remedial massage therapist sees is appropriate for your condition and to also maximise your health with massage or even use the last half hour for relaxation massage to help reduce your stress level.
What is the duration of regular Chiropractic appointments
We operate on the guidelines recommended by the Australian Chiropractors' Association (ACA). We have short appointments up to 15 minutes, regular appointments up to 20 minutes and sometimes are 30 minutes when needed.
Do you have an X-ray facility on site?
No, our chiropractor refers to a quality reporting x-ray service in Newtown that bulk bills. OSHC clients might pay a small 10-20% gap and if that is a concern then there might be other locations that bulk bill OSHC clients.
What type of massage therapy do you provide at the Sydney University Clinic?
We have a professional, fully qualified and certified remedial massage therapist. She provides remedial massage therapy, myofascial release massage therapy, sports massage, relaxation massage, deep tissue massage, pregnancy massage, Swedish massage and lymphatic drainage massage therapy. For the best massage therapy in Sydney University clinic, let our remedial massage therapist know the result you want from your massage and preferably have a little time after when you can relax and enjoy the effectiveness of the massage.
How do I book an appointment?
We are grateful that you choose to entrust your health with us. We provide you with several options to make it easy to book and change your appointment with online bookings on our website, email and phone access as well as being able to come in to the clinic personally. If you want to book online, please use the button links below. If you would like to call to book then please call us on (02) 9351 8099. Alternatively you can try emailing us to book an appointment on the link at the bottom of the page however this tends to be the least efficient of these 3 methods.
What is your cancellation policy?
We understand that things change and so we provide you with online bookings, email and phone access to change your appointments. Usually we can fill vacancies for our practitioners with enough notice as people waiting to take a cancellation spot can organise themselves to come in with enough notice. However, it is hard to replace a booking within 24hours of the appointment so we have a 50% cancellation fee in that instance except for exceptional circumstances or if you or we can refill your appointment with somebody else. This is to be fair to our practitioners who have reserved that spot just for you.

Do you accept Medicare Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) / Chronic Disease Management cases?
If your GP refers you under the Medicare Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) / Chronic Disease Management Program you can receive up to 5 Chiropractic sessions in a calendar year. Each session is paid in full at the time of service and the rebate is given by Medicare instantly to your EFTPOS card or you can submit the tax invoice to Medicare yourself. We will collaborate with GP to get the best results we can for you.
Do you accept Workers Compensation cases?
We will consider it. Your claim needs to be filed and a claim number needs to known as well as a valid GP referral with our practitioner and clinic on named on it.
Payment is made by you upfront and you can get reimbursed directly from your Workers Compensation insurance company.
Can I use private health insurance cards in your clinic for Chiropractic and massage?
Yes, we have HICAPS and HealthPoint for instant claims on the spot so you only pay the gap. If you forget your card we can print or email you a tax invoice to claim by yourself with your private health fund. Our HICAPS terminal works with digital private health care cards.
We do not enter provider preferred type arrangements with private health insurers as that requires the health practitioner to have a financial contract with your insurance company and we see that as a conflict of interest. We will only consider the best interests of your health when we recommend and deliver services to you rather than a payment contract with your insurer.
What are your fees?
We have a range of fees that are specific to the type of care you need, bear in mind most people need a series of visit so individual prices are not very helpful to work out the value of services. We charge fees recommended by the Australian Chiropractors' Association and Recommended Retail Prices where applicable. This means we have enormous value for money due to the high level of expertise of our practitioners. Being inside the University of Sydney means we have always focused on delivering quality, high value and effective care.
How can I pay?
We require payment at the time of our services being delivered. Apart from your private health insurance rebate through our HICAPS and HealthPoint machines, we take payment with cash or American Express, Visa, Master Card, JCB and Union Pay cards. We have the option for AliPay too. No cheques are accepted. Gift vouchers issued by us that are valid are accepted. We only process Medicare cards if you have a valid Care Plan and Team Care arrangement (EPC) from your GP, you can also submit our tax invoice to Medicare for rebate directly to you.
Can I come to you if I'm not a student or staff?
Absolutely! We are open to the general public as well as servicing the University community for over 20 years. We are just near UTS and Notre Dame so students and staff from these Universities are also welcome.
Do you have gift vouchers?
Yes, we have our own official gift vouchers that you can buy in clinic and give to someone to use for Chiropractic, Massage or our Health Products.
